What is the main objective of having The olympics? Answer: This policy has two main objectives: • it strives to promote Olympic Games which respect the environment and meet the standards of sustainable development. • it also aims to promote awareness among and educate the members of the Olympic family and sports practitioners in general of the importance of a healthy environment and sustainable development. It is based on the principles enshrined in the The Olympic Charter (Chapter 1, The Olympic Movement and its Actions: Mission and Role of the IOC): • to encourage and support a responsible concern for environmental issues, to promote sustainable development in sport and require that the Olympic Games are held accordingly; and • to promote a positive legacy from the Olympic Games to the Host cities and the Host countries. The IOC policy also finds its roots and scope in the Olympic Movement's agenda 21 which is another major reference document in this field.

Rare water tornado spotted in San Francisco?

Wild, wet weather brought an unexpected sight to San Francisco's Ocean Beach last Friday: a twister on water.
A funnel cloud is a tornado that touches water, and this one can be seen from the Richmond in this popular YouTube video. The water spout gains steam, but never makes land, luckily. It eventually weakens and disappears More Inside...

We can add the water spout to the list of recent crazy weather events in the Bay Area:
-- An actual tornado churning winds of up to 110 mph blew apart a shed in Santa Rosa Friday. It was the first tornado in the region since 2005.
-- And while much anticipated snow never really materialized in the Bay Area, the hail did last week near I-280, depositing a thick blanket on cars and roads.
There may be more drama in store for the first week of spring. The weather is still unsettled with  scattered thunder storms expected throughout the Bay Area Monday and Tuesday. Winds will pick up late Tuesday, leading to heavier rain at least through Thursday.
Meterologists warn the ground is already saturated from persistent rains, leading to a good chance creeks and rivers may overflow.
As, always, check the latest weather conditions.
